Fishing guide for Master Angler

Master Angler needs every fish in the collection: 72 in all, including 10 caught in crab pots and 5 legendary fish. Willy sends a Stardrop when you finish, which also counts toward Perfection.

Each fish has its own season, time and weather. 6 of them only bite in the rain, so check the forecast on TV the day before and keep rainy days free for fishing. Use the filters on this page to show only what you can catch today.

Fishing gets much easier with a better rod, bait and tackle. Level up early on easy fish (the beach and the mountain lake in spring are good places), and save the hard ones for when you have an Iridium Rod with a Trap Bobber.

How do you catch the legendary fish?

Each one lives in one spot, most of them in a single season, and some need a fishing level: Angler (level 3), Crimsonfish (level 5), Glacierfish (level 6), Legend (level 10) and Mutant Carp. You can only catch each one once per farm, so don't sell it if you want it on display.

Do crab pot catches count for Master Angler?

Yes. The 10 crab pot fish are in the collection too. Crab pots need bait, and what you catch depends on whether they're in fresh water or the ocean.

Where are the Night Market fish?

Blobfish, Midnight Squid and Spook Fish are caught from the submarine at the Night Market, held on the beach from Winter 15 to 17. Missing them means waiting a whole year.
